What happens after I purchase? Within minutes, you will be receiving communications from our registration department to schedule a time for a welcome call. On this call you will be informed of our registration process and any documentation we will need from you. This welcome call usually happens the following business day after your purchase.
How long will it take to receive my plates and registration? Your plates & registration will arrive within about 4-5 weeks, your title will arrive about 2 weeks after that. We do offer a $40 Day temp tag that allows you to drive legally while we finish up your file.
Is this legal? Yes! South Dakota has a unique law that allows you to register your vehicle there—even if you’re not a resident. Legal Tags makes the process simple: we’ll take care of all the paperwork and work with your bank and the state of South Dakota, to establish your registration there.
Why can't I register in Montana? Vehicles that are financed are typically financed in your personal name, while Montana requires the vehicle registration to be in the name of a Montana LLC. Since your vehicle is already financed personally, South Dakota may be a better alternative for registration.
